"This new album is born following an upheaval in my personal life. I asked myself many questions about life, death ... and I had a great need for spirituality. So I made a U-turn on myself and changed direction. This has inevitably been felt on my music. I wanted to convey these experiences but how? With words it's so hard! So I started composing. First "Conversion" and "New Birth." Then appeared in me the desire to start a band with musicians who share these values and want to convey a message of peace and love.

It was then that I composed "Peace on Earth". For this album, I wanted a real sound group, each of the musicians put to music service, and "Glory and honor" who returns to duty .... I wanted to add to the original compositions masterpieces gospel directory such that "There is a quiet place" arranged by the group that my father introduced me to when I was three. This is my first memory of music " ~ David Reinhardt http://davidreinhardt.fr/spiritual-project/

David Reinhardt has a lot to live up to. Perhaps, too much. The grandson of none other than Django Reinhardt and the son of Babik Reinhardt, David descends from not only the world's most renowned clan of Romany guitarists but the founder of a whole genre of music, Gypsy jazz. Big shoes, indeed.

David first performed on stage at just six years of age, playing alongside his father at the 1993 Django d'Or concert, Europe's jazz version of the Grammys. By 2004, he was sharing the stage with fellow Romany jazzman Biréli Lagrène's Gipsy Project concerts series in Vienna in 2004. Young, shy, and obviously nervous, David played a tentative version of the chorus of his grandfather's "Nuages," visibly relieved when Lagrène took over with a solo. It was perhaps the poorest song selection possible, as the Gypsy jazz world seems to measure players on their improvisations of the over-played anthem. And to bring the stress almost to the level of duress, David was sharing the bill with an all-star lineup including Dorado Schmitt, Stochelo Rosenberg, Tchavolo Schmitt, Angelo Debarre, Serge Krief--the list goes on. But in the seven years since, David has become a fine guitarist, capable and confident--and with his own voice. He released his first solo album in 2004, David Reinhardt Trio, on his father's old label, RDC Records. David sounded much more sure in this intimate setting, trading solos with his cousin Noé Reinhardt (who was the more exciting player at the time) and Samy Daussat. ~V/Amazon

Playing against expectations, given that his grandfather was the one and only Django Reinhardt, the 26-year-old guitarist David Reinhardt pursues a modern direction more informed by bebop, bossa nova, funk and fusion than by the Hot Club of France. With Hammond B3 organist Florent Gac and drummer Yoann Serra in tow, he opens with a gentle fingerstyle ballad, “Lady,” before segueing into the edgy B3 burner “XV,” which carries a hint of the original Tony Williams Lifetime trio. The relaxed swinger “A Fool’s Errand” features Reinhardt delivering warm, Wes Montgomery-style octaves, and he reserves his most lyrical playing for Ivan Lins’ mellow “Aparecida.” The title track, an uptempo swinger dedicated to Reinhardt’s grandmother, features his boldest hard-bop-fueled lines, and “Melina’s Theme” has him playing funky rhythm guitar à la Jimmy Nolen from James Brown’s band. Reinhardt also turns in a briskly swinging take on Jimmy Van Heusen’s “Here’s That Rainy Day” and an unaccompanied acoustic reading of the poignant “Love Theme From Spartacus.”~ Bill Milkowski http://jazztimes.com/articles/54417-colombe-david-reinhardt-trio

Grandson of the great Django Reinhardt and son of Babik, David Reinhardt was born in Longjumeau, France in 1986. He made his first stage appearance as a guitar player in 1993 at the age of 6, accompanied by his father Babik in a tribute to Django at the Django d'or. Without any concerns for the pressures that might come with such a namesake, David Reinhardt has carried out his family tradition with grace and a style all his own. After the passing of his father in 2001, he naturally took on his role in Christian Escoudé's Trio Gitan. With his David Reinhardt Trio, he has graced the stage of countless jazz events worldwide, including Philips Dubaï International Jazz Festival, Festival Internazionale Jazz Manouche de Turin and Le Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.
