After more than thirty-five years as a composer, arranger/orchestrator, pianist, producer and music educator, Jeff Steinberg's work continues to span the professional spectrum which includes spectacular Jazz, Big Band, and Orchestral recordings as well as original scores for advertising, television, and film. Upon graduating from the Berklee School in 1969, he joined The Glenn Miller Orchestra under the direction of Buddy DeFranco and toured the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Japan. Since then, he has worked with such luminaries as Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Perry Como, and Michel Legrand, and produced and arranged music for the advertising campaigns of General Motors, McDonald’s, ALCOA, The Monsanto Company, TimeLife and others. He has arranged, conducted, and performed with and for The London Symphony, Scottish National Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, the orchestras of Nashville, Detroit and Tampa, as well as Randy Newman, Anne Murray, Art Garfunkel, Roberta Flack, Michael Feinstein, Olivia Newton-John, and Paul Anka. His recent album of original material, Friends & Heroes, is a dedication to some of the jazz world's most influential musicians. His compositions are musical sketches of these icons Horace Silver, Thad Jones, Michel Legrand, Henry Mancini among them and feature some of the best players on the music scene today, most notably clarinet legend Buddy DeFranco, saxophonist Jeff Coffin (currently with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones), and bassist Jim Ferguson. Recorded live in the studio, the fresh attitude and creative solos make this popular collection a must for every traditional jazz lover. His recent work with Village Square Music and Green Hill Productions has paired his arranging and orchestration prowess with jazz greats Beegie Adair, Lori Mechem, Jack Jezzro, and Denis Solee. As a featured pianist with his own ensemble on the Village Square label, his Jazz & Cocktails and Jazz Blends albums assemble a veritable who’s-who of Music City’s best players to present a collection of jazz standards which, like a smooth martini, are suitable for social gatherings and solitary enjoyment alike. Steinberg currently serves as a frequent POPS Conductor for The Nashville Symphony and other orchestras with whom his productions of “Jazz At The Symphony” featuring the talents of Jeff Coffin, Denis Solee, Mark Douthit (The Other Three Tenors), Beegie Adair, Lori Mechem, Rod McGaha, Jay Patten, George Tidwell, Annie Sellick, Sandra Dudley and others have drawn critical acclaim and sell-out crowds. As producer/arranger of the newly-released Brazilian Christmas album spotlighting pianist Lori Mechem and her sextet with orchestra, Jeff Steinberg continues to create high quality, listenable jazz for music lovers of all tastes and generations. https://jeffsteinberg.com/bio.html

Vintage-inspired singer/songwriter Chris Isaak has periodically attempted to update his '50s and '60s-influenced sound. Albums like 2002's Always Got Tonight and 2009's Mr. Lucky found the California native incorporating funk grooves, modern rock guitars, and the occasional synthesizer. Despite these moves toward contemporizing his pompadour-accented approach however, Isaak's best work, even on those albums, is always on the tracks where he embraces his old-school aesthetics and delivers melodic, twangy songs in his signature goosebump-inducing croon. This is the approach Isaak takes on his 13th studio album, 2015's First Comes the Night. Technically, the album is Isaak's first collection of all original music since Mr. Lucky, but stylistically, this record has more in common with his 2011 tribute to Sun Records, Beyond the Sun. As with that album, First Comes the Night has a vintage rock & roll vibe with songs that will play just as well to longtime Isaak fans as to listeners who only know him from his 1990 hit "Wicked Game." Recorded in Nashville, the album was produced by Paul Worley (Dixie Chicks, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride), Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Shooter Jennings), and longtime Isaak associate Mark Needham. Despite its Nashville origin, First Comes the Night is not entirely a country album, though Isaak does touch on that sound here. Cuts like the yearning, piano-driven "The Way Things Really Are" and the bopping, darkly humorous "Down in Flames" sound like long lost Bob Luman hits. Primarily, however, the songs on this record are '50s and '60s-style pop tunes driven by Isaak's smoky vocal and devil-eyed lyrics. The title track is one of the most archetypical Isaak-sounding tracks he's recorded in years, recalling a mix of the Traveling Wilburys and the Righteous Brothers. Similarly, "Perfect Lover," with its rollicking rhythm and mariachi-esque horn section, finds Isaak paying tribute once again to Roy Orbison and Willie Nelson. There are also some surprises on First Comes the Night, including the Gypsy jazz-style "Baby What You Want Me to Do" and the circusy "Don't Break My Heart," which brings to mind the kitschy soundtrack to an Elvis movie. While First Comes the Night doesn't break any new stylistic ground for Isaak, it also doesn't hurt his reputation, and deftly reinforces his image as a glamorous, charming torchbearer for traditional pop songcraft. ~ Matt Collar https://www.allmusic.com/album/first-comes-the-night-mw0002881751

David Davidson is a member of a rare group of musicians whose artistry crosses the traditional boundaries of musical styles by combining the worlds of classical, pop and commercial music with equal success. It would be far too simplistic to define David as a country music session violinist, or as an arranger, or even as a composer or orchestral concertmaster. He is all of these things and he approaches each of his many facets with equal amounts of joy, exquisite artistry and technical mastery. He often refers to Nashville as “the Vienna of the 21st century” and he lives that vision.

Jack Jezzro has been one of Nashville’s most versatile musicians and record producers for over 30 years. He has appeared on many Grammy winning recordings and has numerous albums as an artist to his credit. His vast guitar discography as a recording artist includes the critically acclaimed Jazz Elegance and Brazilian Nights recordings, along with the Grammy nominated A Days Journey album. As a bassist, he was a member of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra from 1981-1991. He continues to be a member of the Nashville String Machine, playing on countless hit songs including those by Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood, Amy Grant, George Strait, Jennifer Lopez, Matchbox 20, Vince Gill, Wynonna, Olivia-Newton John, Rascal Flatts, Neil Diamond, Dolly Parton, and The Beach Boys. His productions, which number over 300 albums, include legendary jazz pianist Beegie Adair, acclaimed Dove award winning vocalist Kathy Troccoli, Grammy winning pianist/composer and producer Michael Omartian, jazz vocal sensation Jaimee Paul, tenor sax ace Denis Solee, renowned violinist David Davidson, bassist/vocalist Jim Ferguson featuring jazz sax great Chris Potter, singer/songwriter Christina Lake, trumpeter Leif Shires, and jazz violinist Antoine Silverman featuring virtuoso pianist Stefan Karlsson. His music and productions could also be heard in several motion pictures, including the recent Woody Allen movie, “To Rome With Love.” https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/daviddavidson1

BEEGIE ADAIR was born in Kentucky and began piano lessons when she was five. She continued studying piano through college at Western State University in Bowling Green where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education and played jazz professionally every weekend. Adair credits as her main influences Jimmy Jones, Teddy Wilson, Tommy Flanagan, Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Red Garland and Russ Freeman (the pianist who played with Chet Baker in the Fifties). Beegie’s first main gig was with the Hank Garland Quartet. She moved to Nashville and landed in the house band at radio station WSM for a decade. That led to being the in-house pianist for The Johnny Cash Show on ABC-TV for three years where she performed for millions of viewers not only with Cash, but also guests such as Neil Diamond, Mama Cass Elliot and Peggy Lee.
