Rachel Gould (voce); Luigi Tessarollo (chitarra); Riccardo Fioravanti (contrabbasso); Giovanni Gullino (batteria).
A not easy undertaking, if only for the possible comparisons, overcome with skill by the group of guitarist Luigi Tessarollo with the American singer (but often in Europe, where she teaches) Rachel Gould. Apart from the beautiful voice and the interpretive security, there are arrangements that make the compositions look modern, pleasant, almost out of an anti-aging care. The guitarist puts all the effort possible, precise and attentive to what are the atmospheres evoked by the words of the text. "Two Sleepy People" sees him accompanying Gould alone, in a memorable performance, which combines executive technique and the ability to transmit emotions. And the "Skylark" that follows soon after, introduced by Riccardo Fioravanti's double bass solo is another of the most interesting moments of a varied album, which casually shows changes in training, as in "Baltimore Oriole" performed without the participation of the drummer and the final "Blue Orchids," performed in duo by the singer and the Fioravanti double bass.
It is a successful homage, done with "minimalist" means, without redundant solos or flaunting technical skills out of context. There is a lot of passion for memorable songs performed with sincerity, which makes the album very enjoyable. (Translated from Italian.)
