"Angel Eyes", the second release by vocalist Barbara Knight, was well worth the wait. This recording is an amazing journey for Barbara, one she shares with Russell Schmidt on piano, David Morgan on bass, Jim Rupp on drums, and Jack Schantz on flugelhorn. The small-band setting lets her spread her wings and soar, as she introduces fresh interpretations of the classic jazz standards, arranged by renowned bassist David Morgan as well as several by Barbara herself. Two of the songs on this CD are originals written by band members, the achingly beautiful “A Single Flower” by saxophonist Howie Smith and Morgan’s own “Choices”, both tunes including new lyrics by Barbara. Another memorable feature of the CD are the four duets, each with a different member of the band, making this recording unmatched by any other in the vocal jazz genre. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/barbaraknight
