Jack Teagarden started 1960 off with his first studio recording for Roulette Records, Jazz Maverick, in New York City on January 2 of that year he and the band are in great form, no surprise given how tight they were on-stage during this period, with Big T and trumpeter Don Goldie sharing the vocals (especially on "Aunt Hagar's Country Home") and romping and stomping through pieces like "High Society" at breakneck speed (and also showcasing clarinetist Henry Cuesta on the latter number along with T and Goldie); Goldie's richly atmospheric "Blues Dawn" and the unexpectedly inventive and clever "Tin Roof Blues" are also just about worth the price of admission.
