This album was born from the meeting of Gilberto Gil and Vusi Mahlasela during the filming of the documentary Viramundo. Some titles are from concerts which took place during the filming in Johannesburg in May 2011 and others were recorded a year later in Switzerland during the Montreux Jazz Festival. Gil carries out a fundamental role in the constant modernization process of Brazilian popular music.
