Jazz and cabaret singer Hilde Louise Asbjornsen was born in Sykkylven, Norway, in 1976. Bringing to mind such cool vocal jazz artists as Billie Holiday and June Christy, she released her debut album, Eleven Nights and Two Early Mornings, in 2004. Birdie Blues followed in 2005. In 2006, Asbjornsen released No Vil Eg Vake Med Deg, a tribute to iconic Swedish vocalist Monica Zetterlund. ~Biography by Matt Collar

I like it a lot because she sings in her own language.
ReplyDeleteHow come I've missed this one? This is so far one of her best! In "Månesjuk" (or Moonsick in English) Hilde Louise gives glimpses of a burlesque and dark room of longing and unresolved love. The Tangent player and producer Anders Aarum contributes to an original sound, with banjo, bass clarinet and other timbral spices. Highly recommended if you are a Hilde's records collector - like me!
