Tenorman Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and organist Shirley Scott co-led a popular combo during 1956-60, recording many albums and helping to popularize the idiom. This particular CD finds the quartet (with bassist George Duvivier and drummer Arthur Edgehill) interpreting eight swing standards, alternating ballads with romps. It's a fine all-around showcase for the accessible group. ~ Scott Yanow  http://www.allmusic.com/album/jaws-mw0000263203

Personnel: Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis (tenor saxophone); Shirley Scott (organ); Arthur Edgehill (drums).

  2. Of the two albums with Shirley Scott available here, I prefer this one, although the production is thin. Merci.
