This is a tight little quartet date led by saxophonist Javon Jackson, celebrating the music of the Duke. His co-conspirators on the session are arranger/pianist David Hazeltine, drummer Tony Reedus, and bassist Paul Gill. The material ranges from the obvious like "Caravan," "Chelsea Bridge," and "Lotus Blossom," to selections usually not played by quartets such as "In My Solitude." The emphasis here is on the bluesier and moodier side of Ellington's music, which works beautifully. The colors and textures a larger orchestra display may be richer, but in the quartet setting they can go deeper. It puts additional pressure on the individual players, but Jackson and Hazeltine as front line soloists are more than up to the challenge. The greatest proof of this lies in the ballads like "Warm Valley," and in the more lithe and slightly more up-tempo tunes like "In a Sentimental Mood." This is a fine session, and utterly lyrically beautiful all around. ~Thom Jurek

  4. Mat, hi. I tried both Speed Share and Solidfiles with no success. While downloading from Solidfiles I was warned by Avira that the file contained a virus and was deleted. I didn't manage to download it since Avira blocked the download. Thanks !

  5. I downloaded this using HugeFiles with no problems at all.
On HugeFiles first page, don't click on the Download orange button. In the box below where it says "Your answer" write what it says above then click on the green Download button. A new page will open. Before click on "Create download link", untick/uncheck "Download using download accelerator" and only after click on "Create download link". After some seconds the download will start at full speed. You can do simultaneous downloads from this host.

Pay attention. That download acelerator must be unchecked in any host you use, other way, your antivirus will warn you about it. If you will not uncheck it, you will be downloading this application and not the mp3 file.

  6. Kamane, hi! thanks for the full explanation on Hugefiles! I appreciate it! In my opinion what happened was that something went wrong on March the 14th when Tony first tried to download the album. I tried to download it with the purpose of helping Tony to find out what was going on and received the warning from Avira. So, problem solved! You guys are great.
    Thanks!
