There are numerous collections out there, perhaps a dozen that cover the late and highly influential Minnie Riperton's career. The very best one out there is the double-disc set on the Right Stuff label called Petals: The Minnie Riperton Collection. This one on Stateside is easy to confuse given its similar title especially since they were released only ten months apart. But the two are not remotely similar in quality. Petals may cost more, but it's worth it: It is a standard bearer and covers Minnie Riperton's entire career with great sound and solid liner notes as well as reliable discographical information. It is also assembled with a great sense of aesthetics in terms of its sequencing. Fleurs is nothing more than a slapdash effort; its poor presentation and sound are designed to make a quick buck and nothing more. If the only cut you want is "Lovin' You," do yourself a big favor and score a legal download from digital retailers. ~ Thom Jurek http://www.allmusic.com/album/les-fleurs-the-minnie-riperton-anthology-mw0000738892

More than Lovin' You : Some funky, sometimes rocky songs, and some that sounds like Kate Bush before Kate Bush. Merci.
ReplyDeleteMerci as always Mario B!
